Design Brief
Design and make a storage device inspired by the bahaus movement which can be used to hold small household items.
Background
The Bauhaus has been recognised as being one of the most significant influences on the development of architecture and industrial design during the 20th Century. The designers of the time believed that there was no place for ornament which was very different to the ideas of the Arts and Craft Movement of the late 19th Century. The Bauhaus brought together mass-production and the innovative use of materials. Glass, steel and concrete were used - fashioned into simple geometric shapes.
The style of the Bauhaus was directed and influenced by its teachers and students but the fundamental elements from the original manifesto written by Walter Gropius in 1919 remained.

Limitations and Constraints
THE PARAMETERS
MY TWO PARAMETERS
- The briefhaus must be designed using simple geometric shapes and primary colours.
- Only the supplied materials can be used.
- The briefhaus is not to exceed 200mm in length, width and/or height.
- Use 3mm plywood for the design of your Bauhaus inspired lid/sides etc. Cut, drill and add pieces.
- For each new colour you want to use, make a new piece. Each piece is to be only one colour, either Red, Blue or Yellow.
- The briefhaus must be joined using PVA glue and small nails. (screws may also be used where necessary).
MY TWO PARAMETERS
- The parameter that I might find hard to work with - 'Only the supplied materials can be used'. Why? Sometimes I might need to use materials that won't be supplied by the teachers, and use something that i find at home.
- The parameter that I will find easy to work with - 'The briefhaus must be joined using PVA glue and small nails'. Why? These two resources are easy to work with and can be used in many places.
